New speakers are in!

Put Infinity Kappa 6937i's in all 4 doors, sound is so much better than stock. I've seen reviews where people said the bass was lousy on these, and that there were no midbass, baloney, these have more of everything that the stock speakers.

But, had some minor issues installing these. I think some of the exposed wiring on the back of the speakers where I marked in this first pic was touching part of the metal brace on the bottom of the door. Initial install of the fronts went well, then when I put the rears in it caused no audio to come from the radio. Wrapped this area up with electrical tape and everything works great now.

I got these from Crutchfield from their scratch and dent section, and lemme tell you, other than some remains of double sided tape on the external crossovers on 2 of them, these things are brand spankin new. Came with the neccesary speaker harness so I did not have to do any splicing either. They were also listed as not fitting the front doors, I was told they were .06" too tall and would hit the stock grills, again not true, fit no problem. VERY happy with the sound they produce, and the deal I got on them. This is my 3rd vehicle in a row now that I replaced crappy stock speakers with Infinity's, and I have yet to be let down by them. Here are some installed pics before I put the grills back on.

And if anyone cares, here is the speaker wiring colors. This is for the base system.

Front left + gray/violet
Front left - gray/yellow
Front right + dark green/violet
Front right - dark green/yellow
Rear left + gray/light greed
Rear left - gray/dark green
Rear right +dark green/light greem

I would have never thought that all 4 speakers were 6x9's. Is the setup the same for an 08 SXT with the 4 speaker setup? I had infinity kappa's that I bought a few years ago in another car I had. The only issue with them was they were meant to be driven by an amp and were pretty much underpowered. What's the suggested constant wattage for these?

They say 2-110 rms, 330 peak. Although the factory stuff is far from high powered, its plenty loud for me with them. I've run Infinities now in my last 3 cars and only one of them were run with an amp, never had an issue. Pretty sure at least for the 08 that all of them used 6x9's in the doors. It is pretty wild to run that size in a door, caught me off guard as well.

Oh and I was leaning toward the reference line at first, but the magnets on those are huge and no way would they have fit.

Yup, all is good. This model has been discontinued, but there is a very similar one out now, 6939i. Only thing I need to do is go back into each door and tidy up the wiring, since they come with external crossovers. Right now I just have them wedged between the door panel and door, but I will make it all more secure when I get time.

Yeah the old Kappa's I had, had those external x-overs as well. Kind of a pain having that extra piece just dangling there. Let me know how you tidy up the wiring with that in there. I'm looking into doing this myself as well, now that I realized you don't have to pull the whole door apart to get to the speakers.

More than likely I will used double sided tape and attach them at the bottom of the door, but that remains to be seen! If I go that route I really need to wait until it gets warmer to make it all stick.

Crutchfield says those new ones don't fit. They say only one of the 6x9 speakers fits the front door, and it's not even released yet.

I plan on getting a set of better 6x9s down the road.

I'd go on the online chat with them. Thats where they told me the ones I got were just barely too tall for the fronts. I figured I could easily make room for .06", but I didnt really have to. there are speakers on Crutchfields site that say they dont fit, then looking on Best Buy they say they do, so who is right? Only one way to find out!

Good to know, thanks!

They're probably also gearing their information for people that won't be able to figure out how to make minor adjustments to get it to fit properly.
