| Easy upgrade for the base 4 speaker system! Hi all, Just became the new owner of a slightly used Caliber that came with the base 4 speaker system. Here is an upgrade I did, that will make the system sound 10 times better. Replace the 4 seakers in the doors with Sony XSV-690HP speakers. You can get them from sellers on ebay, about $55 a set shipped. Just use a flade blade screwdriver at the bottom of the speaker grill, and gently pry them off. Use a # 20 star driver to remove the four speakers . How you connect your new speakers is tricky, I opted to cut off the Dodge connectors, and crimp on my new Sony speaker leads. These speakers sound great, are just as efficient as the originals, so you won't need an amp. I am adding a subwoofer next week, opting to use the new, Stealthbox from JL Audio. This is a little pricey, but it puts a 10" woofer in the same compartment that Dodges uses for their Premium Boston system. |
