Need advice about OBD-II Code Reader, Code Eraser.

What's a decent OBD-II Code Reader, Code Eraser for the money?
I'd like it to show the Code that turned on the CEL light.
I'd also like it to clear the Code and so turn off the CEL light.
I know about the Aeroforce ScanPro will read and reset codes and have one on the Neon.
But they aren't cheap and I'm not wanting to install a guage anyway and the CSRT (with Stage 1) is CAN bus anyway so won't work.
So what would be a decent code reader/code eraser?
Thanks.

If you have an ipod touch or iphone there is a wireless odb2 unit that with the proper software (rev IIRC) will act very close to a scan gauge.

I use the Rev app and my iPhone, works great. Ive used it on a couple other cars to check and clear codes too.

Re: Need advice about OBD-II Code Reader, Code Eraser.

Thanks. No iPhone as I definity plan on an iPad soon. I have an old Auterra Dynoscan - Palm Pilot setup that I used to use on the Neon, but I don't think it will work on the CSRT's CAN bus. I I also have LogWorks2 (Innovate) but it doesn't connect to OBD-II port do no luck there. I guess the Scan Pro V2 from Real Tune is looking like the best alternative. I really want to capture the code and not loose it. Maybe I'll just reinstall the stock PCM, order the Aeroforce from RT, and hope the code remains alive in the S1 PCM (NVRAM?) so it's there when I reinstall the S1 PCM and use the Auroforce to read it.

Go to Auto Zone. They have a hand held one for about $60 and it comes with operator manual and codes. Real easy to use and clears all codes. Can't beat it for the price.

Re: Need advice about OBD-II Code Reader, Code Eraser.

I reinstalled the stock PCM.
No CEL (no suprise, none were stored originally).
Romped on it hard.
Several WOT puls when it was warmed up.
Still no CEL's.
And it made decent power though not as much as S1 though.
So I think the car is OK (motor, sensors, etc).
But for whatever reason, Stage 1 threw a code.
That's odd because Neon never threw any codes with just the S1 or S3 vanilla Stage kits installed.
So I've decided to sell the Stage 1.
And not spend the money on a scan guage (or any other CSRT mods).
Instead I'll just accumulate the money and save for a 2012 Mustang 5.0 4-valve, VVT, 413HP if it's as good as I hope.
My 4th Mustang (64-1/2 Fastback, 84 GT-350, 91 5.0 as I head into retirement .
It's goning to be so cool!

Anyway, thanks very much for the help and advice about the scan guage everyone.

Re: Need advice about OBD-II Code Reader, Code Eraser.

Someone suggested going to Autozone to get the codes read/cleared.But AutoZone said they are not

allowed by law to do any scanning (the repair techs union wants
Actually, the gal was very helpful in telling me about a unit for $49 that reads and clears the

codes.
So I bought it on my Amex Rewards card.
It's an Actron PocketScan and it cost $49.99 (included a $10 discount from Actron)
And it worked!
There were 4 codes:
P0315-NO CRANK SENSOR LEARNED
P0335-CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT
P0300-MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE
P1607-PCM INTERNAL SHUTDOWN TIMER RATIONALITY
So I cleared the codes.
And it started up just fune with the MS1.
No CEL lights.
Decided to run with the stock PCM for a while.
To see if any of the above codes return.

Here are some pictures of the $49.99 Actron PocketScan in action...and the final good result...
