| Member | "Switchblade" doors Just thought I would get you guys excited about something I have just started working on. I am in the early design stages of a hinge that would allow my doors to open much like a Koenigsegg CCX...kind of out and then roll forward in front of the wheel wells. I talked with a relative of mine who runs a metal fabricating shop and he is going to build them for me. So maybe in a few months my doors will open like no other aftermarket door in the world (as far as I know )I'll keep you updated on my progress. |

every time someone posted a mod he frowns on it , He Thinks that everyone should be like him , and Mod your car just like him or you might get laughed at. He always say's something negative , never nothing good To bad he does'nt do what he preaches, He said he had a Chevy Colbalt with Air Susp, That's not keeping it Domestic Tex you like your cars the way you do! Other people like their's the way they do ! so Quit bagging on everyone that does'nt do it your way By the Way the Dodge Caliber was Design by Germans not USA ,So Really the car is not a Full Domestic, Not that it realy matters to me , and I don't have anything against you are your opinion, Just because you don't like something just say you don't like it ! and leave it at that. don't be imature and call the guy a TOOL or that he's Wack

| excuse me if i sound rude, not that i care, but this is just ridiculous IMO of course. And not too many people on here have that much anyway so its not like i rag on everyone's mod. Im just stating the facts, nothing more. And if i have been raging it's because i've seen nothing but ricey air box mods and fart cans that add 1000HP and 2 gears to your transmission. So dont tell me im being an antagonist, if people wanted sympathy and to be martyrs when it came to being raged on then maybe they shouldn't be posting pics or ideas if they're not going to like what people have to say. If i came up with a bad idea, i would want people to tell me how crappy it is, no mater how harsh, or condescending it may be. That way i can rethink my idea and make something better out of it. Just curious.....what would you guys say if i told you i wanted to drop a k20 JDM engine in the Caliber and put vtec on the side doors? |

Why are "air box mods" ricey? K&N pretty much started the trend, and last time I checked they didn't have an office in asia. "fart box?" I guess you're referring to straight through mufflers, right? If you add the proper size muffler (inlet) you can gain additional horsepower from these "fart cans" while maintaining sufficient backpressure. Besides that, what would you expect a 4 cylinder engine to sound like with a straight through muffler? I have a Tanabe muffler which produces lower noise because I don't like the weed whacker sound either, but it still gets loud at wide open throttle. I know, maybe we should all install lift kits, super swamper tires, and slap a longhorn bumper sticker on the back. Last edited by okiecaliberguy : 11-14-2006 at 12:42 PM.

1. It's not a performance car 2. The internals IMO wont handle the pressure of a significant power adder 3. It wont have the after market support to even begin to make it a decent performing machine. As for the feeble minded muffler comment, what do you think your getting out of these things? Is there some missing link between People and the reality of good performance and bad performance mods? If your looking for more hp why don't you just get a well tunned header back exhaust instead of slapping on a muffler? A muffler is not the answer to performance, just an uneducated guess on what can make your car at least sound faster as you parallel park. I don't know maybe it's just the way i grew up and being told to never sacrifice quality for the impression that my car is a well tuned machine. I cant believe your stupid enough to think that "Texas" racist comment was an insult or some kind of joke. I'm not a redneck I'm Hispanic, i don't live in a swamp, and I'm a UTEP fan, not longhorns and i don't have a confederate flag on my roof like you obviously think all southerners do... This just goes to show your ignorance and low standards of your stuck in the 1860's education. If your going to insult someone make sure it at least has to do with the subject at hand and not wonder off into a personal matter of what you make think about The great state of Texas and the people who live in it. Think before you act and drop the racist crap...even i wont go that low. Obviously this is turning into a personal matter and the "original" suggestions and opinions are taken too personal I think it would be best to end it. So i am done with this thread ![]()

I thought the confederate flag comment was very stupid. i sincerely apologize. i was trippin'. that's why i changed it. i thought it was changed before anyone saw it. although, it was geared more towards redneck than racist, and rednecks come in all colors. i did, however, like the super swamper tires bit. I have a mexican friend in L.A. (no swamps) that has super swamper tires on a Jeep CJ-7 we restored together. He uses it to ride sand dunes. Plus a lot of the Texans here (in Oklahoma) believe bigger is better. so, i went with it. in any case i think you're missing the spirit of "budget tuning" which is primarily how the Honda scene exploded in California. People didn't have enough money to buy a high performance vehicle. everybody had 4-bangers with good gas milage. since everyone was pretty much on the same level, very small changes could give one driver an advantage over another. if i had enough money i would have bought a car with more power. I personally like the WRX Sti. I have a family so the four doors would be great. plus it has 300hp and 300 lb/ft torque. alas I switched jobs to be able to go back to school. i didn't have a company vehicle anymore. i needed a car fast, and didn't have any money for a down payment. one of my old highschool classmates manages a Dodge dealership, and hooked me up. i had never seen a caliber until the day i bought one. i love my Caliber, and I love to drive. so, i would like my car to perform better. right now i can't afford to have a one off header back exhaust designed for my car. also, i can't afford to pay $600 for a Mopar exhaust. if an aftermarket muffler will give me 2 more hp I'll take it. I am not "tuning" my car so other people will think I can do 12 second 1/4 mile runs. i am "customizing" my car to reflect a little more of my personality. If someone likes switchblade doors, air ride suspension, or flames coming out of their tailpipes that's their prerogative. Now back to the thread. these are pics of the Koenigsegg CCX door setup.
