i've found a uk website that gives you a tyre(tire) size calculator, you punch in the size you have just now and you new size and it'll tell you what your correct speed will be %

Tyre Size to Compare

Current 215/55/18
New 235/45/19
Difference 0.06%
Speedo reads 70mph your actual speed will be mph 70.04

you put your current tire size along the top line the you try and work out what tire would be in the line below, and find the best percentage to reduce the speedo variance i.e. the example above woulb be the best for me if i wanted 19's on my cali
let me know if this is any help??

215/55/18

the 215 is the tire width
the 55 is the tire profile
18 is the alloy size

it is how it's done over here, thought i was the same over there, guess not.
if i had to phone up and order a tire over the phone all i would say was i need a 215/55/18

so if i want 19's, i would order 235/45/19
because the difference is only 0.06% of the original diameter.
so because the % is so close it would mean the actual speed is 70.04mph when your speedo reads 70mph

let me know if this is any clearer?
