I just picked up my Caliber SRT-4!...got some questions...

I picked up my Caliber SRT-4, 2 day's ago....and I love it!....my second car is a 2000 Jetta GLX VR6....I've had it for about 6 years....and I must say.....I enjoy the caliber way more!...

my question is about the Break in period....I have logged about 600Km since picking it up, and I have been quite gentle with it, only stretching out her legs once or twice....NEVER getting close to red line though....am I supposed to baby it?, or should I be wanting to open her up more....I cant wait to see what this thing can really do, and the dealer told me that there is some kind of governor in the computer that limits it's max power till it hits 1000Km...is this true?

I guess my question is can I hurt the motor either by babying it to much or by Giv'en er, so to speak.....WHAT SHOULD I DO?.....It's my first new car, so I'm clueless....I just want to do what's best for the life of the motor...

Any insight would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks

Go easy and vary the driving for 600 miles. Manufacturers say that it doesn't matter anymore, but I really don't believe them. What's the hurt in still doing it?

Hey there..... the specified break in is right in your owners manual.... keep it under 80km/hr for the first 100 k and then 80-90 km/hr for the next 400km with "within the limits of the local speed limits and laws" occasionally applying full throttle acceleration.

so you are past the break in specified in the manual already....
