I am presently driving a 2005 Neon SXT 5 spd. Found it in a neighbor's driverway "for sale" and he said he had 40 some visitors peek at it, but no takers "cause it's a stick". Well, I grew up "sticks", and I've had many high performance street cars over those years, some with as much as 700 supercharged/turbocharged HP, and still drove those cars to work. But, that was a while ago too. Needless to say, I love power and I know what power is. But, I bought this Neon SXT just so I could shift gears again, and 'cause no one else looking at this car wanted a stick, I got a great deal. I love this Neon even more today, one year after purchase. My Neon earns some compliments from passers-by here and there, even if they are not car jocks. But, more importantly...Today I am getting 30-some MPG in my daily drive to work, and in a world of 3.50+ per gallon ('round here) this is important. Moreover, y'all would be surprised who and what I smoke at the average citystreet green light. Even local cops in their "police interceptors" are caught off guard. I didn't know much about Neons when I bought mine, nothing 'bout any SRT4 version...I was just looking for relief from my gashogluxo-barge daily driver. Nonetheless, my Neon has been quite a delight to own, and drive daily. Anyway...Back to the question in main. Seems that once I drove my "new-to me" Neon to work, my partner ups and admits that he owns a 2006 Caliber SXT in sliver...Geeze! All I ever saw him drive was a bland looking (and somewhat negelected) 2001 Neon with worn tires and very foul looking front wheels. (Dude hasn't a clue about brake dust). GudLord...What you don't know about your friends, eh? Once he came out of the Calibre closet, I drove his Caliber and I liked it very much. Then I heard him mention that a turbocharged version was coming out and my mind (and heart) did some serious dreaming, while my fingers started "google-ing". Once I found y'all, the rest was easy. So...Is it all true? What's the scoop? Will we see a Caliber SRT4? I hope so... I'm a "small business" man and I'm tired of renting/borrowing larger vehicles for chores that my Neon can't handle. I'd love to have a dual-purpose (strike that...make that "triple" purpose, hehehe) automobile. An automobile I could drive economically everyday, perhaps haul some stuff around as necessary, or, just haul azz when I feel like it. Will it happen? Could this become true? Hope so... Y'all be safe. WOB. |
