Lemon law because you had two warranty issues?

Lemon law is much more strict than that. The vehicle has to be down for a total of 30 days or more, or have 3 of the same recurring issues. It is different from state to state, but that's very similar to what Michigan has.

I have had several issuses with my Caliber, My state lemon law is 15 days and my car has been in over that. I have had several issues you know nothing about. I was trying to help the others that have had the grinding noise with my post. I did not list all the problems. so NO "Lemon law because I had two warranty issues" I have researched my state lemon laws and I DO fall into the guidlines !

I picked up my Caliber on Saturday Morning, Monday morning my Caliber is back at the dealer, same noise not fixed by replacing the transmission or swaybar bushings. Sorry I could not help with the grinding mine is still doing it too.

I have an 07 SXT Sport. Being from Montana we get the cold. My sport has 23000 on it and Ive never experienced this problem. I do get what feels like a shift in the tires, almost like a rack slip in any weather. Is this common

if your car is running in a super cold climate change the power steering and atf fluids that are specced to a colder range and you will have to re-change it once the weather warms up, what you can have is the oil caveating (will sound like grinding metal) whats happening is the oil is creating vacuum pockets and there are actually little implosions and it WILL damage the components. this is very common among heavy equipment in their hydraulic tanks and all your atf and your power steering fluids are are a different version of hydraulic fluid

Next winter - observation - will ask collegues ...

Did not experience it in winter 08 / 09 while we had the -40° centigrade (with wind factor) in Montreal on a couple of occasions.

1. I'm taking a note of this and will do some experimentation after 1 january 2010.

2. I will ask the boys on the base if they have had the same problem with the Caliber. ( I've noticed more people bought the caliber since April 2009. )

Will post back ... by this time, maybe a search on the web ?

Take care.

i was given warnings about caliber's having power steering probs in extreme cold conditions. Preventive measures is to limit your turning angles and not max it out on the steering wheel. luckily i didnt run into that problem last winter, but it happened to some my friends earlier...

Re: Horrible Grinding Sound when turning corners in Cold Temps

SunB, just passed a couple of very cold days in the last 2 weeks of january.

Still all is fine. Went as far as -30 with wind chill ...
I've been turning the wheels a lot to get out of the parking and @ job the Caliber is in a huge parking facing many farm lands. The wind was quite getting on the car.
Just can't reproduce the problem over the last 2 winters.
I suggest that if you have a mechanic in your family that could investigated better than that guy on the phone ... that would be great.

Francois, near Montreal. -11 centigrade ( ~12 F ) tonight, @ 19h50 local.
