Cold Air Intake

I'm about to purchase a CAI, and Im just wondering are there actual noticeable horsepower gains. I went to a local shop and some guys say most performance intakes will give u 8-10 hp? Is that true? Once I get this intake is there anything special I have to do tomaintain it, clean it..etc? Also on a scale of 1-10, a person having zero knowledge about car parts, how hard would it be to install the CAI by myself? 1 being easy and 10 being super hard :P

depending on how the cai sits and how low it sits u might was to think of a bypass. i think aem makes a bypass. the bypass if for high waters so ur not sucking in water. i havent look in the bay of a caliber yet but i did mine on my neon and it took maybe 20 min. but that depends on what intake u get and what tools u have availble. but when u get the intake it should give u directions on how to install. anymore help needed let me know

Yes, intakes do provide a 8-10 hp gain.. But they don't give you the gains, they free it up by removing the stock intake. Ebay has Good/Cheap intakes, i would look on ebay. just my $0.02

i think what he is sayin is u will get gain but u wont feel them.which is true the only thing i felt when i did my cai on my neon was it was alittle louder in sound.i would go with a credible intake maker. due to they fit alot better then the ones that u get on ebay for $50. i went through ebay looking for a cheap intake for my neon 2 times and finally went with iceman. and after getting the iceman i realized i had wasted my money on all the others. just my 3 cents.

What im tryin to say is that the power is already in the engine... its just that Dodge focuses more on how quiet the engine is... By removing the stock, Restrictive intake, you will be freeing up 10 hp... and no paying $200 bucks on a tube that you can get on ebay for $50 is not worth it... its cheap hp
and yes you can feel a difference, your car will be more responsive when you smash on the gas pedal!

Saves u gas too!
