Pictures: Oil Filters, Fram, Wix & clones, Amsoil

Good evening,

For SE, SXT, RT, ( Compass - Patriot ... etc )

1. The weak one - card board support: FRAM PH10060: ~10 $ CDN

2. My favorites are: Wix & clones --> Wix 57073 (Had one last summer), CarQuest 84073, NAPA Gold 7073 ~10$ CDN ( strong )

3. Amsoil's New Ea050 full synthetic fiber. ~25$ CDN ( 40$ with shipping ) ... ouch !

Note: THe Mopar Mo-339 is almost like the PH10060 from Fram exept that it's filtering media is supported by genuine metal. It's ~12$ CDN. Much better. The bypass valve is the same ...

Any pictures of K&N HP-1017 and others ... would be fun to see.

4. EDIT --> Be careful when opting for CarQuest ... I suggest you look under your filter and if you see orange (silicon valve) it's good; it's a real Wix. IF YOU SEE BLACK; it's a bad one (small hard rubber). The bypass valve hole is very very small in relation to the original one. You'll be able to see that it's made in INDONESIA. I did hear a couple of " pof pof pof " in -20 degrees centigrade during this Winter. It's not a good filter. There's glue all over the top and bottom and the filter media is not sharp looking as the original 84073. I'm with a NAPA gold 7073 for now ... it's orange under it.

Take care.

Francois

IMO Fram filters ARE junk, for what we pay for them. Poorly constructed !
Two best are Wix and Baldwin !

Youtube is quite informative on Fram and clones ... the power of Fram marketing is impressive, the filters are not.

( @ 25$ each, the Amsoil is too expensive on the long run for me )

M1 filters are nice, but expensive. Fram was once a good brand, but no more. Wix is all I run on engines I care about.
