Exhaust + CVT2 = Annoying?

You know i've always liked exhaust systems on Big blocks and maybe a V6, but truth be told 4cyl dont exactly have a.....male sounding tone. It sounds more like whats been said as..chain saw, weed eater, cat choking and a duck getting screwed.

I got to thinking as i was driving a long and this guy in a 1980 something civic with a fart can is right next to me...now he's not trying to be a ricer and red line every gear, just regular driving ya know. but just something about that sound was bothering me as he was shifting gears. now when i got home i was checking my email and i usually check modernperformance.com to see if anything new has come out. the usual, I/H/E. But the Exhaust got my attention because of the civic earlier on. If it's somewhat annoying when you shift and drive, what happens when you have a 2.0 with the cvt and it doesn't shift, it becomes this one sound that just seems to be getting louder, not only would it be annoying but kinda embarrassing wouldn't it? I mean it's just this one long high pitched tone

The exhaust noise has been getting louder and more annoying as the miles
have piled on my Caliber SXT,so seeing that it was delivered with a RT
rear bumper I decided to have the exhaust from the muffler to the
bumper modified to take advantage of the cut out in the RT bumper.
I went to the local Midas shop and for $69.00CAN had them do the work.
To my surprise the exhaust has changed from the bumble bee "ricer"
to a pleasing more exceptable note and my SXT looks like a RT from the
back.

mopar performance exhaust for caliber

Has anyone heard what the mopar dual outlet exhaust system sounds like?
I checked with one dodge dealer parts man and he tells me that he beleives the system is made by Borla and is noticably louder than stock but not obnoxouisly loud.

More than likely...Mopar uses Borla a lot on the Vips... It's a N/A 4 bannger...of course it's going to be obnoxiously loud

exhaust

I assume that your only quessing and that you haven't actually heard the system on the Caliber.

The system I installed on my wifes LS1 Corvette and on my Z28 were fantastic. At idle not even noticable, mid range rpms only slightly louder than stock and only at the higher rpms was it louder but not obnoxious.

Check out this place for your mopar parts. The best I've found so far.

sorry I can't send you the site I havent posted enough times (that sucks) time to move on.

neither here nor there...comparing a v8 to a 4 banger is apples and oranges. it is what it is, it think it's more of a disillusion than anything else. The simple fact that people are looking for something to show for their faulty sense of position. If i quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, and walks like a duck....guess what...it is a duck and any four banger is going to sound like a duck getting screwed unless severely moded. now you may move on

I just hope that the stock Dodge Caliber SRT-4 doesn't sound like a fart can under water like the stock Dodge Neon SRT-4.

So all you had done, was the pipe leaving the factory muffler modified to extend outside the bumper? And that changed the sound that much? I would love to have a sound file of the before and after.

Right that's all I did to take advantage of the RT rear bumper,
the change in sound was an added plus.
