08 SRT4 availability

Hello, Just joined today and first post.......I ordered an SRT4 about a month ago, I checked with the dealer today and they said it was on hold but did not know why, It is still in BX status what ever that means. I work for Chrysler in Kokomo, IN and have a buddy who has a buddy at the Belvedere plant and he said something about a unibody wiring harness issue. After a month they haven't issued a VIN # or an estimated ship date on the car I ordered. Anybody know when they are going to start shipping these cars???? And has anyone recieved theres yet. Thanks caliberay

What we think we know now

Hi Caliberay

Welcome! Come on in and take a seat. Can I get you a cup of coffee?

There are several of us here who have ordered and are waiting as well. I ordered on 10/31 and mine went quickly into BX, then changed to BG last week. Originally, we were told there was a wiring issue, then an issue with the Kicker audio. I did not have the Kicker on my order, so it's clear that it's not that.

Production was supposed to start on 11/1. A set of SRTs have allegedly been built and are on their way to dealerships. One person ordered on 10/16 and he said that his SRT is on the way. Rumor has it that orders that include the Kicker will not be produced until January.

I ordered an SE at the same time. That one was built on 11/19 and is currently on a railcar somewhere (heading to Spokane, I believe). So, it looks like once it is released they should be able to build it. I suspect that they are building SRTs in blocks at the factory, so they may batch the orders together and build them together in a single run. It makes sense because it's full of special parts. The engines were supposedly the last issue holding up the line and their job #1 was scheduled for 11/1 (that's where that date came from).

BX status means that the dealer has placed on order on your SRT-4 but has not been allocated a vehicle. Once a SRT-4 is assigned to your order, your order status will change to D and will be assigned a VIN.

I was hoping to start seeing SRT-4's available by Christmas, but that's starting to seem unlikely. There was an SRT-4 available at auction on eBay from a dealer, but the reserve was not met.

Just got mine this Monday, I was lucky enough to have a friend who owns a large dealership and he hooked me up.

Thumbs up Congratulations!

Okay, so you're the first one here to take delivery!

<picture Rip Taylor running around throwing confetti>

What did you get for options? What is your opinion of the vehicle? What other cars have you had and how does it compare?

Is there a build date either on the window sticker or printed on a label in the door jamb?

I have a couple dealers keeping me up to date on order status. I did not order one but they have them on order for stock. One of the dealers called me yesterday to tell me he has received the paperwork on 2 silver SRT-4 that are complete and scheduled to ship, he told me he would have them on his lot in 2 weeks....we will see! (Fingers Crossed)

What options are on these vehicles? Are they the same as the others that have been appearing?

I ordered an SRT back on October 19th, I called the dealer today, he said that It would be shipped later next week so I should have it in roughly 2 weeks. He said to call him back tomorrow and he'd give me more info. This will be the best christmas present I ever got.
