rice plate? worth the wrenching? - Dodge Caliber SRT-4 Forums

so the boost blown back into the intake sucks.... I have found that the kiddies in the muffler civics and others dont know what that little srt4 badge means.... so I'm considering the moper blowoff plate to make a little "dont mess with me noise" my buds neon is super loud with it.... not that I want the noise but it would help with the nagging harassment from very much lesser equipped rides. and no im no young punk kid..... and looking to race to the death.... just want to be left alone, so I can enjoy my new car. last thing I want is 10 points on my liscense for suspected racing...

i think a $60 part will do....
yey or nay?

i just put it on my caliber. i doubt its really going to help your problem with the ricers or whatever because it blows off so much and usualy thats what means i want to race

was it easy to bolt up? and i suppoose it gives the normal whoosh whith flutter? 9times outta 10 with my last turbo car ('87crx b16 swap, built,garrett, and lots of ol extrasa.... back in '92 ish.....did a 12.2 best on streeters and pump gas....these hosers would leave me alone.... heck im out to teach the corvette and WS6 guys, and all the kiddies to save money on wings and stripes for a real car,
I have a greddy type s BOV in the closet....should i go that route.....?
seems like a 3 bolt pate was the way to go.

First, if your looking to be left alone the sound of a BOV is not going to do it. That will just attract more attention.

2nd, if you want to be left alone ignore them. If you really wanted to be left alone you would have gotten an SXT or SE, come one now, admit it.

3rd. Don't waste your time and money on the blue plate. It does nothing but make noise. For a little bit more money you can get a real BOV that will allow your boost to recover much quicker.

4th, the system already has a surge release that does the same thing as a BOV. You can't hear it because the restrictive intake muffles it. If you get a short ram intake you will hear the blow off loud and clear.

I'd stay away from the blue plate because it makes a statement that your just out for cheap add ons, like the civic boys.
