Sideways

We were both on team sideways which was aptly named; we lost two drivers to spinouts on the performance drive. We went on Thursday, perfect weather, I got in 15 laps and my son logged 18. As for the full throttle challenge my boy raced 11 times and got in 13 but lost in the finals, .009 response to my .804. Not so hot!

Congrats on winning the team challenge, we came in last! We had a gal, oh, 50 years old or so who was a pretty decent driver however she invited her older sister, dad and uncle. They were all drivers, nice enough people but boy were they slow… at everything. Our relay looked like we were putting grandpa in the car for a day of shopping; it took a couple of them longer to put on the seatbelt than it took others to run the course. As a team we took out 34 cones. Seven of us hit a collective 3 and those 4 hit the other 31. Still it was a blast.

I was talking on the phone to both Van and Jeff (SRT Team Members) on Friday during your event and they had told me about the rain and how we had lucked out with getting perfect weather and thus more ride time. I am sure I will go again; it is that much fun, well worth the $500 if you ask me. I asked Jeff about TMS and said it was different because they won’t let you go on the big track for a performance drive; he was talking about small infield track instead. He said they will have the advanced car control there, where we didn’t have the facility for it in Houston. I queried him about other venues as well. I would like to do TMS because it is close by, well close for a Texan (San Antonio) however I want to go after they put the Challenger in the lineup and they may not happen until the winter. It is kind of up in the air. If I get to drive the Challenger, maybe I can convince my wife that I am still going through my mid life crisis and need to buy one to go with my Jeep and 300.

He told me the Las Vegas experience is top notch, but like TMS it is an oval with a small infield track. Thunder Hill in California sounds like a blast with its 3+ mile road course with 17 turns. The NJ venue has both a road course as well as 1/8 mile drag. All I really know for sure is that I am going again! I have found that no matter how much I tell folks about the experience it just cannot convey the total experience. It’s been a week and my son is still grinning.

I'm going next Sat, May 31, to Summit Point Raceway, WV.
I can't friggin wait!
Summit was just resurfaced so the track should be prime.
I mostly am looking forward to getting some autocross and pro instruction in my Cali and of course a little excited about the Viper. ( I just hope I don't come home wanting a Viper!)

I'm thinking of signing up for September at BeaveRun in PA. It's the closest one to Toronto. Sucks that only U.S. owners get it free tho!

I am attending the November event in Arizona. Signed up for Friday. Perfect excuse to make it a three day weekend. Can't wait. I managed to talk my dad and my aunt into signing up as drivers too.

Why is there only one event in Texas?

We have plenty of tracks to host the SRT Event.
