Another ticket... - Dodge Caliber SRT-4 Forums

Hey, so I got a ticket...this was a while back...and I am definitely going to court.

It all happened like this...I was driving with my friend (Silver 08 CSRT owner) on my way to his house to put in a K&N intake on his car. Driving along doing the speed limit with my radar going nuts past a police station. I even pushed in the clutch and coasted past just to make sure my car was quiet for them. When, I get through the intersection, which was a long intersection with staggered cross streets, and I look in my rear view mirror only to see a cop coming down the street with his lights on. Now, at this point I am of course still doing the speed limit...maybe 5 over to be honest...and the cop is about 15-20 car lengths behind me. So I pull over thinking he is on his was to another call...when he pulls up behind me!

I put down my windows and he asks for my information. I hand him everything including a gold PBA card (this states I am a family member of an officer) and he asks where I am going. I explain that I am on my way to my firends house who the officer then realizes is friend of his who works in the town court. So he then asks what I do for a living. I told him that I was an elementary school teacher...he then asks if I have any points on my licence and of course I told him the truth..."no." He says he is going to go back to his car just to check my licence and that I would be on my way.

He came back and handed me a 2 point ticket for running a red light!!! I could not believe it...if a family member of an officer with someone from the town court in his passenger seat who is a elementary school teacher with no points doesn't get out of a ticket!!!!! WTF!!! Plus, he said that his side of the intersection turned green as I was passing the front of his car...which is B.S....my buddy even agreed with me and we were both wondering why the cop was soooooo far behind me when I was doing the limit?

Needless to say I am going to court...which by the way I had to have rescheduled due to working at a hospital to speak to children with diabetes. Unbelievable.

That would tick me off too. I mean from what you said you were doing nothing wrong and he still says you ran a red light. I would take if to court too. My wife got a ticket on base when we were in Germany because the cop said she failed to fully stop at a stop sign when she knows for sure she did stop. This was late at night when she had just picked up a friend from the club who had been drinking (wife was fully sober). She tried to tell the cop that and he went back to his car to write the ticket. When he came back he had his partner with him who said the both saw her fail to come to a complete stop. I was deployed at the time and when I got back she showed me the stop sign and where the cop was sitting. Well from where she said he was sitting there is no way he could tell if she fully stopped (bushes partially obstructing the view). I think the cop pulled her over because he thought she was drinking and when he saw she wasn't he made up some other excuse to give he a ticket. Tried fighting it a little but gave up since on base in Germany you just get points on your base driving privileges and no points on your state drivers license. Also we were PCSing and it wouldn't matter after we left. Just really ticked us off that the cop would insist that she didn't stop when she knows for a fact she did.

i know how u feel.. happened to me on thanksgiving week..i was going up to the airport in boston to bring my fiance sister. the speed limit was 65 but i was going the flow of traffic so basically like 70 -73.. The tractor trailer flew by me possibly going 80 or so then i see a damn state trooper turn on his lights and me thinkin hes going after the tractor but no he pulls behinds me, so i pulled over.. then he was being the biggest dick to me and said i was going 85 in a 65. I think its because of how our car looks if it wasnt he wouldnt of pulled me over so im going to court with this one.

I hope the cop gets screwed in court and possibly your ticket could get dropped. Good Luck

i had a similar situation back in the day. Accept the cop gave me a following to close in rush hour trafic when i wasnt moving. Took it to court and won.

Make sure your friend goes to court with you. A lot of times the Officer will cut you a break "in his mind at least" by giving you a less severe ticket than admit he was wrong. I got hit with wreckless driving way back when and the officer that cited me didn't even see it he took his "friends" word for it...long story. Anyway, G/L.

Not sure but IF you know RT1 in philly.I got a ticket for running a stopsign on cottman and RT1.

Im surprised you didnt get out of the ticket. It must have been near the end of the month and he was just filling his quota. I got out of a couple tickets because im a mailman. Just tell them next time you are just rushing home from work cuz you gotta shit bad! That always works for me lmao!

this town doesn't have quota's...but, they are dicks. I am sure I will get out of it. I usually get out of all my tickets...but not from this guy.
