Some info, if you didn't already know:

The air scoop on the hood. Well, it's just for looks, it's not functional.

The car has a big ass intercooler infront of the radiator. If you don't know, it cools the air after the turbo and before the intake. Turbos run really hot!!

Dodge claims the hood scoop and vents are for "cooling engine bay temperatures." So, the scoop is functional. It's just not used for intake purposes.

I believe the main hood scoop is 100% functional, but the two inverted scoops on each side (don't remember the technical name) are not.

Dude, I build these cars, no air passes through it. It is just for looks, it doesn't cool anything. We don't even put a silencer pad on the hood, so it will have a bit more engine noise than a regular Caliber.

So does the hood scoop have a black piece of plastic (like mustangs) to make it look like the scoop opens up to the engine bay instead of an actual hole?

This is from Dodge's Caliber SRT4 website:
The muscular exterior styling of Dodge Caliber SRT4 is as bold in its form as it is in its function. Get this: The assertive, dynamic front fascia, which helps give the vehicle its SRT style, also directs airflow to cool the brakes. To enhance performance, hood scoops bring cool air into the engine compartment while extractors remove hot air.

Were they lying about that last part?

The Neon SRT-4 already has a functional hoodscoop .... so why shouldn't the Caliber SRT-4 have one?
