| CSRT-4 mpg readout I could have swore that when I first got the car and pressed the button to reset mpg, the display went to zero and then started to average mpg again. I find now that when I press the button to reset mpg, I get dashes and then the display goes immediately to the previous mpg. On your cars, is the mpg reset to zero (after pressing button) and then it starts averaging again? What am I missing? Thanks |

| mpg calculation mine does the same thing - dashes and then starts out at the previous mpg. must have made sense to the engineer who designed it, but i would rather see the zeroes come up and start off fresh. |

| Mine does the same. I wanted to see what kind of gas mileage I could get on the hwy on the way to work this morning. Its a short trip but i got up to 28mpg and it was still rising but i had to get off at my exit. Used cruise control for the first time and had it set at 65mph. |

| It makes sense, because if it started averaging from zero, your average would be way off, and alot worse, for a while anyways.......this way it starts at what the car was peviously averaging, not 20 or so mpg less. |

) but if im cruising, highway or even smaller roads, as long you can stay at the same speed, you can really watch the mileage improve, getting close to 40 mpg on perfectly flat stretches. i'd imagine your readouts would look similar, seeing as our cars are of very similar nature. | |

| BMW has had something similar for years. It's a small gauge in the cluster below the speedo. As you accelerate, the needle moves and indicates your fuel mileage based on your speed. Don't know how accurate it is but it was always kinda cool to stomp on it and watch the needle drop down to 10 or 12mpg. Nowadays, it's more painful than fun to watch.
