There's plenty of room inside for 2 average adults. The back seat is okay as long as you're under 5'10". I guess the possible sportiness of the Caliber depends on your idea of "sporty." Performance wise the Caliber SRT-4 is looking at 300hp / 260 lb-ft torque. That should qualify. Then again when the Neon was introduced it wasn't expected to be a "sporty" car. That's what the Avenger was for.
