Y Pipe and electronic cutout

Anyone have this setup? Is it worth it for power gains? Seems like a great option if you want to keep it quiet for normal driving.

I am planning on getting the S1 PCM first, and then considering this Y-Pipe.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,
I have it and love the darn thing. When I want it loud, I open it up and when I want it quite it's goes thru the stock muffler. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Mine is located at the straight section right by the passenger side rear wheel. I had a custom down turn pipe made so it exits right in front of the rear suspension arm.

Cost me $70 to get it welded in place, I did all the wiring.

didnt you dyno less though with it open?

i had it on my nsrt. it was nice to sound stock and go to loud as hell at the push of a button. but eventually it started to leak, and honestly im much happier with my current exhaust than i was with the e-cutout

Do you notice a power increase with it?

Before I did everything to my car, this was it when it was stock, I got a 7hp gain.

It's like running a straight pipe.

Highbred, where did you have yours? Most people run them before the CAT. If you had a leak in that area there would be a big problem. I'm running mine right in front of the muffler.

Below is my thread on this matter. There is also a dyno chart for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks Fastyz, I am going to get it after my s1 which I will order this week. Sounds like an awesome adder, since I sometimes drive customers with me for work.

That's why I got it. Took a client out for lunch today. He didn't think anything was added to my car.

Then he asked me if I modded my car any? Then turned on the exhaust and ripped thru the gears for him. Needless to say, he was very impressed. I didn't think he was a car guy.

Here's a sound clip,

The first round was with the Y-cutout open.

The second round was with the Y-cutout closed.

it was a needswings setup on my nsrt. the catless d/p had the cutout in it. it was great at first. but after a while the butterfly in it kept creeping a little and it made it leak. id have to get under there once or twice a month and loosen the set screw re adjust the butterfly and tighten the screw back up.

its a nice thing to have, im just happier with my setup now than i was with my cutout. prefference thats all.
