heat sheild

So I took my heat sheild off and I was wondering if it is a nessicity to have it on or will it be fine with out it... I did drive it around for about 15 min poped the hood and it was fucking hot under there the valve cover was hotter the usaual and my upper pressure pipe and bov was pretty hot too..and was kinda scared that I might have burnt some wires or lines. And water was leaking from the bottom idk if it was from the screws not being tight enought from the bolts I put back on from the exhaust manifold or what. So I'm posting this to see u guys think. Oh and if u know something I can use better then that heat sheild cuz I kinda screwed up it when trying to take it off , it was a fucking bitch

no to be a dick but i would imagine its on for a reason to keep the heat down...the manifold gets super hot and the heat transfer would possibly affect other parts now this is comin from a some what noob but still i had the same problem on my DSM

Not sure how easy it is one the shield is off, but could always wrap in header wrap or some sort of heat reflective tape.
