Sunroof Leaking

I know there is a thread out there like this but I can't find it. My sunroof seems to leak when I wash it or it rains out. I took it to the dealership and they are looking at it. Any suggestions as to what it might be so I can go in and have some fire power if they say there is nothing wrong with it? There is also a small stain right at the front of the sunroof where the sunroof meets the roof material.

There are 4 drain hoses/openings on the Caliber sunroof assy.
The hoses go out thru the "A" and "B" pillars the openings could
be blocked or hoses kinked/pinched.The first sign has usually
been water penetration into the forward part of the headliner
with water in the map/interior lights.

Re: Sunroof Leaking

I may have something worse than that.....I let my brother take my car to a car show. So I usually leave my car in my garage, but i left it outside at his house in the driveway and a normal hard afternoon rain that lasted for about 15 minutes occured...well my brother got ready to go to the car show and his friend got in the back seat and the back floor was soaked both sides and the middle squish squish....? The windows all up sunroof closed, no signs of water leak on the headliner or windows or pilars...? I have been smelling drying water here lately before this occured...I'm taking it to the dealer once again for them to look it over and check it, so we will see how that goes. Anyone else have any ideas or experinced water in there car...?

This has me very concerned and to say the least PISSED

Re: Sunroof Leaking

I went through quite an ordeal myself. I believe I posted on the red site but not this one. Long story short, my car received hail damage before I purchased it (new) and the guys that reinstalled the sunroof stripped out the bolts that hold the sunroof frame and likely damaged the drain tubes and who knows what else (I did not buy the car from my local dealer).

My local dealer had to tap out the holes, replace all the drain tubes/hoses... Then I still had a leak the next time I went to the car wash (I could see water spraying through one corner of the sunroof... actually sprayed me in the face). My local dealer tried about every adjustment before this happened so they ordered a new glass/seal. I went to the car wash and no more leaks! I'm guessing the '08 I bought last fall had sat so long on the dealer's lot that the rubber seal on the glass could have shrunk therefore not allowing a good seal. I've heard some water getting through is normal, but when it sprayed me in the face I did not consider that some. After multiple leaks, rattles, etc., my local dealer got me squared away.

Re: Sunroof Leaking

Also, I believe the regular Calibers back in 2007 had a TSB for the drain tubes. I don't know if this ever applied to the SRT4, but the same issues the TSB pointed to are the same issues that have been reported in a few SRT4's. It comes down to essentially replacing all the drainage assembly parts. If the TSB was for earlier Calibers I'm surprised the issue wasn't fixed by the time the SRT4's began production... unless their were some bad sunroof parts that didn't get tossed out.

If they just "fixed" your drainage tube, you should probably request it be replaced. Usually when something gets kinked it does not tend to want to hold its original shape if it is simply bent back. Once something gets kinked, it should be replaced not fixed.
