How effective are mods really?

Hello, Everyone
I have never posted on the forum before today. I just bought a silver 08 csrt-4. The car is brand new. I have owned it for 3 months. I just added a K&N drop in filter and I had the muffler removed at a local shop and the stock tip reinstalled straight out the back. It was alittle to raspy and loud so I had a 4 inch round resonator 18" long welded in and now it sounds awesome. Stage 1 coming next. But my question is if the computer in these cars limits torque in every gear is doing mods any good. I mean I can add all the power I want but if the computer simply limits power to a certain level then do mods even work? I just was wondering peoples thoughts on this one.
Thanks great forum!

It limits it to a point, mods are still going to help. All the mods I have listed in my sig, I felt the biggest gain from stage 1, next would be the downpipe. I didn't notice gains from anything else.

Sure adding mods to your car will help it hit the flbTQ wall a lot faster lol. I wouldn't do anything more then basic bolt ons or exhaust until you get a CLAMP or FIC. I'm stuck on deciding which one to get because I want to use all the power my car has instead of being limited. Once you get the MS1 your exhaust will sound a little quieter but I'm not sure why.

Congrats

First off congrats and welcome to the forums, good choice of color lol. Yeah the mods you do will help you, like someone previously said the mods will help you get to that limit on the horsepower and torque faster. There are people that I know putting down 440 Hp to the wheels, there are always ways around the computer. For example the clamp, thats going to be my next mod till they come out with a hand held tuner. Post some pics when you can, I think its like 15 more post and you can post pictures.

Most definately make a difference. I have the MS1, MPx cat'd downpipe, mopar intake box, MPx single exit exahust, and AGP WGA I boost to about 17.5 in every gear but 5th & 6th and I ran 13.15 1/4 mile according to scan gauge. On the eagle f1's and it's cold here in Germany so not best traction. So I would say web with PCM limits mods make a sizable difference. I will be putting my clamp an injectors in this week to see what happens.

If you don't plan on running the clamp what list of mods would be affective before hitting the cutoff with the pcm? Seeing what mods I have done on my sig how much further should I go? wga, motor mount inserts, inlet tube,dp? Am i missing anything...

maybe a downpipe but otherwise you look to be at the stage 1 limited area.

From dyno's that I have seen via youtube or here you can hit the pcm limit with just a MS1 and K&N. But even with that you can still make your car perform better by adding basic bolt on mods.

i have to agree with what rayjj said...I didn'treally feel too much of a difference with all the bolt ons...the biggest different was with the stage one. I had all the other mods done before the stage one...I think if i had done the DP after the stage one...or even the muffler delete I would have noticed some more power...but I think the computer limits the car pretty well...

bolt ons are more for unlocking power rather then giving you power like the ms1, clamp, etc
