Fuel Mileage

What does everyone get for fuel mileage and what could I possibly do to increase it. I drive rather respectably on the highway (60-65 mph) and try to stay keep out of boost. I know this sucks more fuel...

I have a stock vehicle and i'm getting around 23 on the highway (actual not what the computer is telling me). My 98 cavalier with a bigger motor (2.5 liter) and a roof rack (wind drag) got better mileage. That car was also an automatic. I got average of 28 mpg...

Just curious if there is anything on the stock setup that's restricting fuel mileage. Unfortunately we can't remove the cat converter but I know my diesel truck benefits immensely from gutting the cat converter!

lol yes i have an SRT4. w a few mods but still was getting great gas mileage from the beginning.
You need to run different octane (higher)- different gas to help clean out your system (please tell me your not running 87.....)
OR go to the dealer and have them check your fuel filter. maybe its clogged or something i dunno.
Grab a K&N drop in filter will help you too

i've been running 89 octane but more recently switched to 93... i hate the dealer so if a fuel filer is cheap enough i'd just do it myself... have you always had a K&N? or did you put it in as soon as you bought the car?

what mods do you have? If they're inexpensive mods it may be worth me doing them... oh and tires are properly inflated.

Check the SIG below for mods list but i have had the AGP 3" Cold Air Intake for a year now and it makes such a great deal in performance and sound.
Its worth it to get the full short ram intake from AGP or Realtune.

Re: Fuel Mileage

Get that stocker air filter out of there and just get a drop in K&N filter.
I'm getting 22 to 24 city and about 28 to 32 hwy.
Plus all my mod in my list.
I don't like going slow but not to fast either.
The fastest I have had my car up to is 130mph.

Re: Fuel Mileage

Gas Mileage depends on my driving habbits, If I am good and dont get into the turbo than I can get some great gas mileage. Although I enjoy driving fast too much so I only average about 245 miles to fill up and thats when my light comes on. If I am good I can usually get 30-32 sometimes 34 on highway driving. City driving not so much I get horrible gas mileage in the city.

Re: Fuel Mileage

What gear are you in and what is your tire pressure at? Even tire pressure won't account for that much of a fuel mileage lost.

At that speed you should be in 6th gear, and try setting the cruise. Also if you're just going by the MPG display on the dash, keep resetting it once you're at speed and also do an actual calculation at your next fill up by using the trip odometer to compare to the dash display.

I get around 22 city, and around 30 on the freeway depending on speed.

I have Stage 1, Neon Stage 1 injectors, a K&N drop in, and NGK Iridium IX plugs.

Re: Fuel Mileage

I'm getting 22-23 mpg on average in the city. I have seen as much as 24mpg on 180 mi trips (don't like to put the miles on her) and as little as 18mpg on short runs depending on driving conditions. Fuel filters are not serviceable on our CSRT4, it uses a sock on the pump module and a screen on the injectors, no inline filter.
