Blow off Valve

I have a Greddy BOV. basically getting pressure surge.. or well it opens late or whatever and I was wondering if it would be ok to adjust that... loosen it up... without being on the dyno... someone said do it while tuning car, well i wont be doing that anytime soon.. idk what should i do?

Re: Blow off Valve

Yes you will be fine. Loosen it up. Not too loose though. You want the valve to be seated hard against. You don't want the valve floating. What vacuum source are you using?

Re: Blow off Valve

All is stock, its just the intercooler piping and intake from shop realtune and the blow off valve, everything else is cosmetic.

Re: Blow off Valve

For now i just want the car running as quick smooth and safe as possible till next summer... ive just been curious about stuff... like one the BOV.. btw how much would you adjust it? like 1/4 turn? Ive NEVER adjusted one before.. also ive wondered.. i only get 7-8 pounds of boost... car seems slow.. and when i let off the gas the gauge drops down to 25 VAC i was told it should do no more then 20... heck i have no idea

Re: Blow off Valve

Basically what's happening is that your bov is too tight so your not venting all of your pressure out of the system, the access air is hitting the throttle plate and going against the Turbo, creating a Turkey call noise.

Also what levels of vac and boost are you experiencing this compressor surge.

Re: Blow off Valve

As for your 7 to 8 lbs. You might have a boost leak. You could do a boost leak test or just try tightening up your clamps. What the weather like where ur at temp wise. You may be boosting lower because of colder weather.

Re: Blow off Valve

Do you need photobucket to upload images? :/

But anyway ya the BOV runs down to a T connector under the intake
