A/C knobs getting hot on long trips

I've had my CSRT-4 for about a month. I've noticed that on every long trip, the knobs get hot to the touch (this is after driving for about an hour going 70 mph or so). Has anyone heard about this or had this happen?

Not with my CSRT-4, but my SXT I noticed the A/C panel would heat up. I just figured it was heat coming from the engine. Noticed more in the summer than the winter.

I have really noticed the heat coming off of the panel around the A/C / heating dials. I keep my hand on the shifter and I thought I had accidentally turned on the heater when in fact it was the heat coming off the panel making it feel so warm. Weird.
