Electronic Super Charger

Has anyone ever used one? They are basically modified bilge pumps. I read if you use 2 you can get 2psi of boost. Anyone ever try? Seems like a harmless way to boost.

Sure thing. I love when a woman asks me to explain something about cars.

Well, the whole concept of a supercharger or turbocharger is to force more air into the engine. Along with more fuel, this creates a bigger explosion inside the engine pushing the pistons down faster which increases torque and horsepower. I'm not sure if you know the Suck, Squish, Bang, Blow of engines, but the turbocharger/supercharger starts with the Suck part.

Turbos are powered by exhaust out of the engine. Superchargers are belt driven.

Electric superchergers use a pump almost like a leafblower to blow air into the engine, and is powered by the cars 12-volt system (alternator).

Did that make sense? Sometimes I ramble...

Frankly, I don't care how it looks (besides the fact that IF it is getting ANY air it is hot engine air) I just want my dang engine to be able to breath!!

I don't know what it is but as soon as there is a decent mod for it (that I like) I'm going to fix it. The one I have seen around doesn't suit me though. I guess I'm picky

Very excited about getting CAI. My jeep friend is willing to help out in exchange for beer. I love a good working relationship! Perhaps I can get this done by Christmas.
