+20hp Power Speed Chip

First off, i'd like to say hi to everyone!

now i'd like to ask if anyone has used one of these 'chips' ie. resistors!!
i've been using it for about a week and i've noticed a small amount of power from it, but i'm not sure on how safe it is for the car and more importantly the engine??

The power boost recieved from these resistors is minimal. It might be sucking up your Gas mileage though. A lot of car veterans say not to use them and that they are a scam.

agreed, read they are equivalent to a 99 cent resistor from radioshack.... and the long term effects on the caliber are unknown.

+1

Many companies make these products and others like them as scams and rip offs...like the turbonator for example...i've seen them for almost 90 bucks and they do nothing.

The problem is that too many people see movies like "Fast and Furious" and want tune their cars. Only problem is that gaining true power generally takes alot of dough (with the exception of cars like the GTP). Power is not cheap, and these chips are. Now something like RIPP Mods "Black Box" and some of the reliable S-AFC's will produce better results, but they are pricey.

The only reason products like these are sold, is because there are alot of suckers in the world (no offense, at least you asked).

JEt Chips does have a module available for all 3 versions of the Caliber (Not the SRT-4). It actually has a computer, and connects into the engine. The thing you are talking about is just a resistor. The Jet chip module attaches into the mas-air flow sensor, and the throddle position sensor. They clame it advances the spark and re-maps the fule/air mixture. They show dyno results of other cars with the same configuration (tuned differently for a different car though) which adds about 10 HP.

The JEt Chip module mounts inside the cabin of the car, attaches to power, ground, and to the throdle position sensor. You then cut a wire leaving the mas-air flow sensor and put the module in line with it.

You can find these for as low as $150.00, they retail for about $250.00

It takes some work, may or may not help, and does require you cutting into the factory wiring.

IMO we should wate for them to provide a plug that you put inline with the comptuer wiring harnes. Easy to install, and easy to remove if needed. It also has the ability to tap into a lot more than just mainly the mas-air flow sensor. I find it dificult to think it can advance the timing much.

Give it a try and let us know how it works.
