Jeep compass 07 oxygen sensor?

I need replace a cut oxygen sensor on my Jeep compass. Don't ask me how it got cut. I've been looking online for o2 sensors but all I can find are the universal ones not the plug ins. I don't want to risk splicing b/c I know down the line it may mess up again. Would the Jeep parts dept. have this? any idea where I could find one? Also could anyone give me tips on replacing an o2 sensor on my 07 jeep compass? I think i'm looking for the one that's cut obviously. Is disconnecting the battery necessary? THanks

Is the line between the O2 sensor and the disconnect cut, or between the disconnect and the ECU? If it's between the O2 sensor and the disconnect, you should be able to go to your local Jeep dealership and get a new O2 sensor and replace it rather easily. You may even be able to get that sensor at your local parts store(Advance, Napa, Auto Zone, etc.) cheaper than what you'd find at the dealer. Otherwise the line from the disconnect to the ECU could be a PITA and you'll like want a dealer or experienced tech to do it. Other thing you might try, if your Jeep is still under warranty, take it to a dealer and let them worry about it!
