F'n Ricers

I was watching speed tunner vision this morning and they were talking about how ricers use the biggest exhaust they could find and how it screws up what little performance they have. There was this idiot that had a "quad" exhaust that ran fron each tube of the headers and he was acting all proud because 'no one had that'. I wonder why??? It was funny the way they were mentioning about 1.8L and 3 inch exhaust, a buddy of mine just made the same ricer mistake....when will they learn?

probably never, no back-pressure for the turbo= big problems . and 3 inch exhaust isn't that the size diesels run?

LOL...yup, the usual upgrade for a diesel is 4 in or 5 in depending on set up...i would be surprised if there was some civic crx or legend out there with a 5 in exhaust

I would put a 3 inch single pipe exhaust on a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, especially if I was going to highly mod it. A Subaru WRX STI 2.5L engine is a good example, or a 2.4L Cobalt SS with a Hahn's Racecraft Turbo Kit is another.

I'd agree with these two examples, you've brought up a good point richard. but out of 1.8 or 2.0L honda? come on, not even with Vtech would I try this. ok maybe I would with vtech, I won't lie. but it would be just for fun because I'm postive the engine would be crap until the turbo was completely spooled and the ecu was programmed to run the vtech at about...............5500 rpm give or take 500 rpm instead of 7000 and up

Very Very ture...3" is a perfect example for the cobalt SS with the 2.4L engine , because stock it's 2.5" untill it gets to the muffler then it goes down to 2.25, I had 2.75" straight through on mine from the 4-2-1 header exit back, which really helped with the low-end torque. with a turbo 3" would be perfect, when it comes out. the evo with the stroker kit is another good example

If the hahns turbo comes out next year for the 2.4L i think i might get it again. The cobalt was my first love and damn did that thing move. and it didn't sound like no chainsaw either...nice deep tone. It'll be my project car

I too fell in love with the Cobalt SS. First the 2.0L SC version, and then the 2.4L SS when I heard about the possibility of aftermarket turbos for this trim. The only thing that has stopped me from buying my own Cobalt SS is the aftermarket. There are very few aftermarket parts for the Cobalt SS.
