its hard to argue against a civic with gas prices as they are. if you get a 5 speed, you can really push the mileage on a small 4 banger. kinda sucks IMO that there are a billion of them on the road, but there's a reason for it. they're a good value and tend to be quite reliable.

color? silver, hands down. im not a fan of white on cars.

I have to agree personally Id get the Jetta depeding on what model you get gas mileage can be quite good for what it is, as for the Jeep compass if your buying it used its hard to beat 2.99 per gallon of gas, 30MPG, and lifetime powertrain warranty.

My pros and cons list for each car

Honda Civic
Pros
Best gas mileage of the bunch
Reliable

Cons
Its a tin can on wheels
Theres a million of them out there
The long dashboard, short hood and low seating make it weird to park.
The car is harder to get in and out of then my uncles viper (no joke)

Jetta
Pros
Great interior
Reliable
Sturdy

Cons
Worst gas mileage of the bunch
Most expensive
And you will have to deal with VWs horrible service

Caliber/Compass
Pros
Good gas mileage
Cheapest of the bunch
Reliable
Sturdier then the Civic
They are Chrysler cars (had to throw that in there haha)
The great incentives offered with the car IE 2.99 gas and lifetime powertrain warranty

Cons
There are a million of them out there (not as many as civics but you get the idea)
Interior usually lacks comparitively speaking

This was all based on 2008 numbers and specs..

the reason that statistics usually have civics near the top of the list of most stolen cars is because there are so many of them on the road. accords are usually up there too, for the same reason. it's not necessarily because they are easier to steal. if you go by percentages (the number of one model of car that gets stolen divided by the number of that car that are on the road) i'd be willing to bet that the civic wouldnt be anywhere near the top of the list.
