New problem!

OMG.....OK here goes the next thing in what is becoming a LONG list! As I have said before, I thought I was in the clear with the problems until day 12 I think it was and everything started happening.

1.)I have the "ping" which the dealer says is normal and get used to it. Do we have a TSB yet?

2)My chill zone won't stay open. Need to look up the TSB on this one to. The dealer says I'm crazy on this one as well.

3)Front Driver's seat is clicking. Again, need to look up the TSB because the dealer once again said "whatever."

4) My MPG gauge is erratic. There is no constancy what-so-ever. TSB? probably not but who knows?

AND THE NEW ONE, GET READY FOR THIS!!!

I got under the car to look at the muffler due to the pinging and just to see what the heck was under there and I noticed that the weld where they welded the tailpipe and the muffler together is not only raised and but is also ruff since they didn't smooth it. But here is the kicker IT IS RUSTING!! Also, the very edge of the tailpipe on the end is rusting! I have owned this car for 16 days! Not 16 months or 16 years, this is NOT acceptable! Watch, they are probably going to tell me that this is normal and to come back when I have a real problem. Granted I guess it isn't affecting the car right now but it will at some point I'm sure.

Am I out of line for being upset?

Ok Not good.....

1) I haven't personally noticed an engine ping yet ... when (what conditions) do you hear it ?

2) Chill Zone sliding closed -- you are NOT crazy! Dodge is aware, but my dealer said they don't have a solution yet. I stick a tiny ball of the "ticky tac" for walls at the back behind my CZ door to keep it from sliding back until they come up with a solution. This leaves no residue, doesn't dry up and flake off, and will keep the door in position until you don't want it to be.

3) RUST due to a poor weld job should be fixed by them and under their warranty too. That is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. It's not like you went driving through snow and water and let it sit for days in the salt-melt mix they put on the roads. It's August!!!

I'd be very aggressive in getting those things checked and fixed. 16 days is not enough time to poorly man-handle a car.

BTW... what is TSB?

It is actually a the cooling down ping. Now don't shoot me but yes I belong to another forum as well Trust me I am not the only one with this issue. I thought at first that it was normal. I got under the exhaust of my car after shutting it off and it is definetly comes from there. Others have taken there cars in and have been told it was normal as I was but then others have gotten a whole new exhaust system put in. Guess what! After the dealer replaced that there was no ping! WOW maybe they need to fix it! Sorry I'm upset

Yeah I know that is what I said to. Maybe it is just cheap which I am sure is the issue but geez they should make it of something that rusts after the warranty is up not after 16 days! (that was obviously sarcasm that they, the company, would be thinking lol)

From what I have learned a TSB is a list of things that customers have complained about and then the company has made a "fix" for. It isn't a full blown recall but it is one of those things that a lot of people have complained about, but it hasn't caused a serious issue yet. So if you go in with a TSB number the dealer can type it in to his handy dandy computer and see EXACTLY what the company says to do to fix it and what parts are needed. These numbers are handy as ammunition I will swipe a list of these TSB numbers from a friend and post it shortly if they don't mind

I hope all of that made sense.

That rust probably was already there when you bought the car. Chevy's are notorious for having rusted discs. I've been to dealerships and saw lots of cars with rust on their disc through their wheels.

OK. So this ping / ticking sound I hear when I shut her off is actually super bad? DAMN! I guess my fix-it list will be growing too. I just assumed it was "cooling off"....

All these problems with the calibers.. I havent had one with the Dodge Ram Yet, one of the first off the assembly line with the HEMI in 2003 (November 2002, to be exact) There is gonna be rust on your muffler/driveshaft/ that stuff, as long as its not chewing through anything you should be fine for the lifetime of the car (which will most likely be until you sell it) if you really wanna get rid of the rust you can sand it down and get some high heat spray paint sorta mask off the surrounding area and paint the area of rust.. I did that with my muffler because its a stainless muffler and the welds were a bit rusted, its an aftermarket Gibson Superflow (not even a kit for a HEMI). Every car has that cool down ping noise, heard it on my parents BMWs, Mercedes, the Chrysler 300C has it, The worst ever i have heard was a Honda Passport. MPG gauge, if it is one that measures current MPG, then it will be eratic.. if its overall, if you dont reset it often it will level out, this is the type in the dodge ram, mine balances out around 14.8 usually (and thats awesome for a HEMI). And is the seat all the way forward or all the way back? if so take it one notch in. brother's dodge ram did the same thing when all the way back.

So, is the jury still out? Do we go to the dealer and have them "fix" it or just let it go?
