Sirius Satelite Radio

Hey all,

How can I tell if my Radio/Nav system has Sirius built into it. I had a unit I bought for my last car and I think I might have to use it on the SRT.

Let me know what you think.

thanks.

my car doesnt have the nav. but it has a button that says sat. on it for satellite. also, does your car have the little stubby antenna on the roof by the spoiler? thats an indicator of sat. you have to also subscribe to it also unless it was included with your purchase. dont know if this answers any of your ???'s.

For one it should be on your window sticker, and you should be able to access it through your radio. You'll know if you have it or not when you scan through AM/FM/CD/AUX.

Nope, no stubby antenna near the spoiler. the Dealer told me there was a satelite subscription on it but it had just ran out before I bought it. Damn him. At least i have a moble unit from my last car i will just install in the SRT. It still has a subsciption going on it.

thanks guys.

if you bought new then does the window sticker say it has sat. radio? dodge gives a year subscription for free and its already active when you get the car. i'm only asking because if the window stickers says you have it then the dealer should re-instate it for you as part of the new car deal. and with the stubby antenna, i dont know if that really is for the sat. radio or the u-connect hands free phone? i have both so i'm not sure about that one. but check your window sticker.

My sat radio was turned on the first 4 days I had the car, after that it got shut off... Dont know if it was because it was about a year old when I got it (363 days old to be exact), but then I recieved a letter from sirius that it should be turned on for one year, but it still is not activated. Have not bothered to look into it further since I use my iPod all the time anyway.

But Sirius will only be included if you have the kicker system or the nav, FYI.

Ok, after my last post I got annoyed and took apart my center stack to make sure I installed everything correct when I put in the ipod adapter... I did, so I went to sirius.com, and entered in my radios id number to pull my account. There is an option to have it send the activation signal to the radio, so I did that and now it works. I went for a drive, and I have to say I really like the satelite radio! Crisper sound than FM or cd, and sounds great on the kicker system. I still think that the ipod has a better sound though.

Thumbs up

I've used iPods or HDD's for most of my music over the last 10 years and never really saw a need for sat. After having it on this, I must admit I really like it.

I agree, the satellite radio is great, and I have been listening to it a lot. Plus I can use the same account to listen through my PC on-line and any other Sirius-equipped radio.

srtguy01, I don't know about this in the U.S. but my Sirius subscription in Canada was a C$250 option as configured by the dealer. I have about three weeks to decide whether I want to renew it. Probably will.
