What advantage is there to blocking off the surge valve?

What advantage is there to blocking off the surge valve? Just what does this do for the turbo?

Its something you need to do if you install a Blow Off Valve.

Blocking the surge valve is a benefit.

1. It gets rid of the turbulence in the turbo inlet when the surge valve opens.
2. The hot compressed air from the turbo will not get dumped back into the turbo inlet, thus keeping turbo inlet tempatures low.
3. Aftermarket BOV's are placed further away from the turbo and have a much quicker recovery time then the OEM surge valve.

Hope this is what you were looking for.

Is the BOV placed inline after the turbo compressor outlet to the inlet side of the intercooler?

Yes, that is where we place our BOV's in our air to air kits. Our WOA intercooler will have the BOV placed on the outlet side of the intercooler.

Re: What advantage is there to blocking off the surge valve?

Do I need a BOV if I block off the surge valve? I have seen some people on here have a block off plate and don't have a BOV. Is this possible?
