OpenECU

Anyone have a stock ecu sitting around? I need to know what processor is in this unit. I am going to attempt to start reverse engineering the code on the unit. I want to use openecu to start a open tuning support following. So far mitsu and subies are compatible. I have not been able to find much info on our pcm. I suspect it has a stmicro processor, due to their partnership with Siemens VDO. I am unfortunately 600 miles from home right now on a business trip for the next month. If I could at least know what the processor is I can start reading. I will be ordering the hardware for flashing/ reading/tuning the unit this week. I still need to do a lot of research though. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am going to freely post all information I have on the openecu site. I also started a thread there asking questions on the best method for pursuing what I want. (same username) Regardless, this is a cheaper, more effective, more versatile alternative to stupid handhelds, piggybacks that do not work, and standalone systems that still need to piggyback the stock ecu because of it's other functions in the vehicle. There really are a lot of possiblilities, If it all goes to plan the in dash display could be utililized for a lot of interresting things. Right now I am tuning my 92 talon in the same method (eprom burning in that case) and the sky is the limit really, even on an old ass processor. It just takes time and effort....unfortunately people dont seem to want to share either anymore. I do.

Thanks
Art

If I had an extra I would hand it over.

I would love to see a full tuning solution to the PCM, instead of just swapping it with one that has less "limitations" on it.

I could give you a hand with the functionality testing (correct address locations being accessed) along with the tuning aspect later in the project if you would like.

I know that HP tuners is working on a solution to crack the pcm's. The state the the pcms are NGC3 series. they claim they are close.....

My buddy tunes GM's with this same program.
it controls everything from injector timing and duty cycle to spark advance and retard and limiters.

Among this you are able to disable ses lights so you trick the computer to think that it never has to run some system tests.
such as evap, o2's, knock things like that.

Anyway the more i know the more i can pass on as soon as they release the beta version,,,,
